Winter Storm Fern Breaks Records
Michiganians saw record-cold temperatures this weekend thanks to Winter Storm Fern, albeit with less snowfall than its southern neighbors.
The record-breaking storm brought frigid wind chill figures as cold as 50 below zero in the Upper Peninsula, with snowfall in the southern part of the state causing more than 250 flights to be canceled, and dozens of car accidents.
Cold temperatures are expected to last through the week, with most of Michigan seeing near-zero temperatures and negative wind chills through this coming weekend.

Michigan Has Top Money Management Towns in Country
A new list from WalletHub ranking the best money management towns in the country ranked multiple Michigan cities in the top 100.
Troy was the highest-ranking Michigan town at No. 49 overall, thanks to its average credit score of 768, and mortgage debt-to-income ratio of 206%.
Michigan towns closely behind Troy were Northville, Ann Arbor, and Plymouth at No’s. 56, 64, and 66, respectively.
The list was formulated based on multiple criteria including total late payments, average credit score, and more. You can see the full list here.
Michigan Senators Respond to ICE Shooting
Michigan’s two U.S. Senators announced a no vote on $10 billion in funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the ICE-involved shooting of a 37-year-old man in Minneapolis this weekend.
Senators Gary Peters (D) and Elissa Slotkin (D) made the announcement after the Saturday shooting of Alex Pretti received national attention, garnering responses from the president and leaders of both major parties.
Michigan’s senatorial candidates running for the seat of Sen. Peters (D) also weighed in on the ICE-involved shooting. You can read where all the candidates stand on ICE here.
