Whitmer Signs Marijuana Tax Into Law

Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed into law a 24% tax to be levied on Marijuana suppliers and distributors on Tuesday as part of her commitment to fund improving Michigan’s road infrastructure.

The tax follows Whitmer’s failed attempt to fix Michigan roads through a 45-cent excise tax after both parties opposed the effort in 2019.

The tax will be applied when marijuana is sold from growers and processors to retail dispensariesand is expected to generate $420 million of annual revenue. You can read more on the new law here.

Tigers Pummeled by Mariners, Drop Game 3

The Tigers’ offense and defense both disappointed in Game 3 of the ALDS, totaling just four hits and allowing two runs on errors, leading to an 8-4 loss.

Detroit failed to threaten Seattle outside of a ninth-inning rally, which was squandered after a lineout by Parker Meadows to first baseman Josh Naylor. Seattle pitcher Logan Gilbert held the Tigers to just one run on four hits, while Tigers slinger Jack Flaherty gave up four runs in 3 1/3 innings.

The Tigers will have another opportunity to awaken their bats and even the series tomorrow night at 7 p.m. You can see a preview of the matchup here.

Stabbing at Southgate Kroger Kills 23-Year-Old

A 23-year-old Southgate man was killed after being stabbed at the Kroger in the 16000 block of Fort Street in Southgate on Tuesday afternoon.

The Southgate Police Department responded to a call and found a victim with multiple stab wounds inside the store who later died at a local hospital, according to a release.

Police said the suspect, who was taken into custody, was an employee. There were no other victims, and no further threat to the public according to police. You can read more on the stabbing here.
