Michigan Sees Large Job Cuts in January
A new report from a Chicago legal firm showed Michigan to have the second-worst job loss numbers of any state in the country in January.
The report, from Challenger, Gray, and Christmas, showed Michigan to have 19,714 job cuts in January, the highest in the Midwest, and second to only Georgia in the U.S.
The nearly-20,000 cuts bring Michigan to nearly two-thirds of its previous year total in just one month this year.

Bates and Chock Win Olympic Gold
University of Michigan alumnus and popular figure skaters Evan Bates and Madison Chock took home Olympic figure skating team event gold medals at the Milan Cortina Games on Sunday.
In the competition at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, Bates and Chock put up season bests in both the rhythm dance (91.06) and free dance (133.23) to earn Team USA the maximum 20 points from the ice dancing portion.
The pair, who married in 2024, also won team gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2022.
